How to Import IIS SSL Certificate on Citrix Netscaler

This is a short tutorial on how to import your IIS SSL certificates for example on using a StoreFront setup (like you see in one of my tutorials).

Of course it much faster with OpenSSL and the commandline, but for the easy way definately take this way.

Open MMC

  • Type MMC and hit enter:


  • Add or remove snap-ins and select certificates (and hit enter):


Export .CER

  • Browse to the personal store and choose to export:


  • Hit next:


  • Do not export private key:


  • Select Base-64 encoded (.CER):


  • Type filename and location:


  • Finish:


Export .PFX

  • Browse to the personal store and choose to export:


  • Export private key:


  • Personal information exchange (.PFX):


  • Enter a strong password:


  • Type filename and location:


  • Finish:


Now you’ll see:



Import certificates on Citrix Netscaler

  • Browse to you Netscaler and SSL section, then import PKCS#12:


  • Select a .key filename, browse to you PFX, enter password and enter PEM passphrase and hit ok:


  • Browse to Manage Certificates / Keys / CSRs and upload your .CER file:


  • Go back to SSL – Certificates and choose to install, enter the next:


  • At very last make sure to BIND YOUR SSL CERTIFICATE to the CA:


  • Delete .PFX from Netscaler
